Two different relationships

CaliperX sells software to independent repair shops. That means there are two kinds of people in this system, and we treat them differently:

  • Shops are our customers. We hold their account and billing details.
  • Vehicle owners are the shop's customers, not ours. When you book with a shop, that shop decides what to collect and why. We store it on their behalf.

What a booking collects

Your name and phone number, and optionally your email, service address, vehicle details, what's wrong with it, and photos you choose to attach. Address and vehicle details are there so the mechanic can find you and bring the right parts.

Who sees it

The shop you booked with. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with other shops, and we do not use it to advertise to you.

We use a small number of service providers to run the software — hosting and database infrastructure, subscription billing for shops, and a vehicle-identification lookup operated by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration when a VIN is decoded. They process data only to provide those services.

Managing your booking

Your booking link lets you view, reschedule or cancel without creating an account. Keep it private — anyone with the link can see and change that booking.

Keeping and deleting information

Shops keep service records for their own business and legal reasons, including tax records. To correct or delete your information, contact the shop you booked with — it is their record. If you can't reach them, contact us and we will pass the request on.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed, never stored in readable form. Access is limited to the shop that owns the record. No system is perfectly secure, and we don't claim otherwise.

Payments

We never process payments between you and a shop. You pay the mechanic directly, by whatever method the two of you agree. We never see or store your card details. Shop subscription payments to us are handled by our payment processor, which holds those card details, not us.
